CRSSM Welcomes the Simons

We are thrilled to announce the addition of the Simons family to our team at CRSSM!

Since 2005 the Simons family, Jeffrey, Sylvia, Kaleb and Isabella, have been faithfully serving the unreached people groups of Southern Mexico from their base in Oaxaca.

Now they have answered the call to serve in Costa Rica as Jeffrey assumes the role of Director of Outreach for the Costa Rica Supernatural School of Ministry.

Jeffrey’s dream to see the Kingdom of God expand in the remote places of the earth was birthed during his years of studying cross-cultural ministry at Biola University. When he and Sylvia married in 1996, they began leading short-term mission trips to Latin America. It was on one of those trips that Chris Nesbitt was able to serve under Jeffrey’s leadership.

“I’ve known Jeffrey for nearly 20 years” recalls Chris, “but it was an outreach about 14 years ago that put us in service together for the first time, and I was able to observe Jeffrey’s giftings, wisdom and Christ-like character.”

Almost prophetically, that initial trip was to Costa Rica.

In spite of the challenges which come with leaving behind the comforts of home, the Simons have been willing to trust God’s leading and provision as they have served the indigenous people of Mexico. For the past ten years, they have discipled and ministered to the physical needs of the Latinos, training them to be agents of God’s Kingdom. A tremendous benefit of their lifestyle of faith has been the seeds which have been planted in their teenagers, giving them a hunger for the adventure of journeying with God. As a family, they are committed not only to the Great Commission, but also to raising up the next generation to take the Father’s love, healing and redemptive power to the darkest places of the earth through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“We almost can’t believe that God is calling us to serve at CRSSM, leading outreaches to churches, hospitals, indigenous groups, schools and the streets and beaches of southwest Costa Rica,” Jeffrey relates. “We are passionate about seeing the Holy Spirit unleashed and the needy touched. We also desire to grow in our faith and in the practice of ministering in Holy Spirit power.”

Our leadership team is equally excited.

“We have prayed for a Spanish speaking couple to join our team, and God provided Jeffrey and Sylvia Simons,” adds Steve Hertzog. “What a powerhouse couple, full of the love and joy of Jesus.”
